Day 9 - Hatbox Ghost Update

Final line art before I start painting.

Day 8

This may be cheating. I don't care. Just a couple color sketches done on my iPod at work using Sketchbook Pro.

We interrupt this Sketch-a-Day...

My friend and fellow artist Kay Ewing, "enigmawing", says she liked my last sketch so much she had to take a stab at coloring it. I thought she did a great job so I had to post it here.

Another of my favorite paintings of hers - a sketch of Rapunzel by none other than Glen Keane, painted by Kay.

Be sure to check out lots more like this at her gallery: enigmawing on Deviant Art.

We now return you to our regularly scheduled program.

Day 7 - The Hatbox Ghost

This one will get more finished - I'll post my progress on it as I go.

For those of you who don't know the story, The Hatbox Ghost is perhaps the most famous resident of Disney's Haunted Mansion at Disneyland... but he isn't even in the ride. He made an appearance to guests in the first week or so after the Haunted Mansion's opening in 1969, then mysteriously disappeared, and has never been seen since. Was it simply because the lighting effects weren't working as well as Imagineers had hoped it would? Or did the Hatbox Ghost find another, more permanent, residence?

Day 6 - Disney Pixar's Merida

A photo of the official poster of Disney Pixar's next film, Brave, popped up online today. It looks gorgeous, and I'm really looking forward to the film. Based on what I've seen so far, it's the most excited I've ever been for a new Pixar film. So since I was in the mood, I did a sketch of the main character, Princess Merida. There's not a whole lot of reference out there yet, so I just kind of went with my own outfit for her.

Day 5

I think I'm gonna have a stab at coloring these guys tomorrow.

Day 4

Done on a post-it during my 14 hour shift at work. Unfortunately, this was the most productive thing to come out of those 14 hours. Another ideation sketch for my senior film.

Day 2

Alright, alright, so I didn't post it on time. But I did do this yesterday. Just a page straight from my sketchbook - the big guy that takes up the right side (without the little warrior guy) is a sketch of one of the characters that may or may not show up in my senior film idea that I've been contemplating.

Sketch-A-Day - Day 1

I've decided to jump on the bandwagon and do this sketch-a-day thing. Some will be more finished, some will not. Here's Day 1 - Inspired by Rachel Berry while watching Glee.
